TikTok is introducing a Creator Rewards Program aiming to recognize and compensate creators who produce videos longer than one minute.

While the exact details are not yet disclosed, creators will have the opportunity to monetize a broader range of content, focusing on key aspects like “originality, play duration, search value, and audience engagement.” The program, which was previously in a beta phase, has shown promising results, with TikTok reporting a significant increase in creator revenue by over 250 percent in the last six months.

On the other hand, TikTok’s original Creator Fund, established to assist creators in monetizing their content, was discontinued in November. TikTok stated that it would redirect its resources to better support creators and explore new offerings.

The Creator Rewards Program is part of TikTok’s efforts to incentivize content creators looking to earn from their videos. Additionally, TikTok is expanding its support for users by introducing a new Creator Academy (previously launched as TikTok Academy in Europe). This academy will offer courses, resources, articles, and insights on content creation skills, TikTok features, and more. The Creator Academy is currently being tested and will be available in seven different languages in the upcoming weeks.

TikTok is also encouraging longer videos in general. Starting with 15-minute video tests in October, the video length limit was further extended to 30 minutes in January. This move underscores TikTok’s deliberate shift towards long-form content, potentially challenging platforms like YouTube.
