Finding plus-size workout clothes can be quite challenging. Most activewear options are either too tight, causing discomfort, or ill-fitting, making it hard to feel confident. Having comfortable and flattering workout clothes is essential for a pleasant exercise experience. A key component of my workout routine is having high-quality leggings that stay in place and boost my confidence. However, finding the perfect pair of plus-size leggings can feel like searching for a needle in a haystack.
Although activewear alone may not be a complete motivator, I’ve been on a quest to find workout gear that makes waking up at 6 am to exercise just a tad more manageable. After trying on numerous pairs, I discovered four that exceeded my expectations. Some of these leggings even inspired me to finally sign up for that yoga class I’ve been contemplating for ages. Flattering, comfortable, and stylish—what more could a girl ask for?

Nike One Lux Training Leggings
Our Social Editor, Keely, sported these leggings at the office one day, and I immediately headed to Nordstrom to try them out. They looked fantastic on her—perfect black leggings that paired well with an oversized sweatshirt while being durable enough for workouts.
These leggings didn’t disappoint. Nike’s sizes can be a bit unusual, so I experimented with both a 1X and 2X in the fitting room. Surprisingly, the 1X fit me perfectly. These leggings would be ideal for yoga classes, especially hot yoga, due to their sweat-wicking material that isn’t overly tight. They also serve dual purposes as they are great for everyday wear. However, personally, I felt they were a bit pricey considering I found similar leggings at a lower price point. If the cost matches your budget, they are definitely worth considering.
Champion C9 High-Waisted Leggings
Offering great value for the price, these leggings from Champion are impressive. I’ve owned another pair from this brand for a few years, and they have maintained their quality without any signs of wear. These leggings were my go-to workout pants for months, and they have retained their shape and durability.
So, I decided to try another pair. Despite only finding an XXL in-store, I gave them a shot. While they didn’t become my absolute favorite leggings, they are a solid choice, especially on a budget. I tested them by doing a few squats in the dressing room, and they held up well without slipping or requiring adjustments, offering a good level of compression.
I feel confident wearing these leggings for various workouts without concerns about durability. However, their online sizing options are limited, only going up to an XXL.

I absolutely adore the compression and comfort they provide. Whether I’m weight training or doing cardio, these leggings stay in place throughout the workout. Even after several washes, they have not shown any signs of wear. I’m so pleased with them that I plan to purchase more from Fabletics in the future. I couldn’t resist getting them in red and black because I know they’ll become regulars in my workout wardrobe.
