Are you spending hours on TikTok, finding it hard to look away? Brace yourself, because the app wants even more of your time.
Are people using TikTok for news?
TikTok has confirmed that it’s currently testing 15-minute video uploads, as reported by TechCrunch on Monday. This comes after certain users started receiving notifications about the new feature.
Social media consultant Matt Navarra shared a screenshot from TikTok in a Threads post with the title “Upload longer videos.”
The notification reads, “Upload videos up to 15 minutes long! Make sure your app is up-to-date, then try uploading from your app or desktop on tiktok.com.”
TikTok has been gradually increasing its video upload length. Originally limited to 15-second videos, the app later extended this to a minute, then three minutes, and most recently, 10 minutes in February 2022.
It’s important to note that these 15-minute videos are currently in a testing phase and there’s no official word on whether they’ll be available to all users. However, given the platform’s trajectory, a widespread release wouldn’t be surprising.
