Tired of always typing your password on Elon Musk’s X? Or maybe you share your device with others and want a more secure option than password managers?

Great news for X users with iOS devices – Twitter, now known as X, has introduced passkeys login for iPhone and iPad users.

This new feature allows you to use Face ID or Touch ID to log in to your X account instead of using a password.

Setting up Face ID or Touch ID on X

The process to set up Passkeys on X for iOS is straightforward. Mashable set it up quickly. Let’s walk through the steps to access X with Face ID or Touch ID:

  1. Open the X app and log in to your account.

  2. In the sidebar menu, go to Settings and Support.

  3. From the dropdown menu, select Settings and privacy.

  4. Choose Security and account access.

  5. In the list of options, select Security.

  6. Under Additional password protection in the Security page, toggle on Passkey.

  7. Enter your X account password and confirm.

  8. Tap on Add a passkey on the next screen.

  9. When prompted on your iPhone, select Use Face ID to sign in and click Continue.

That’s it!

Concerns and Reassurance

It’s worth noting that some accounts tested by Mashable did not have the passkey option yet. According to X’s FAQ, new accounts may not have access to this feature, but it appears to be gradually rolling out to all users.

Regarding privacy concerns, your biometric data, like fingerprints and facial recognition, always stay on your device as per Apple. Third-party apps such as X do not have access to this sensitive data.
