Getting 10,000 steps a day used to be second nature to me. But when COVID hit, my daily activity dropped significantly. I went from a bustling routine to barely moving. Feeling the effects, I sought a solution and found it in an under desk treadmill.
After seeing TikToks raving about under desk treadmills, I decided to give it a go. While I didn’t immediately meet my step goals, incorporating walking at my desk gradually made a positive impact on my body and productivity.
Searching online, I found the perfect desk and treadmill that balanced functionality with aesthetics, setting up my work-from-home space for success.
My Setup
Investing in a foldable treadmill and a sleek standing desk, I created an ergonomic workspace that allowed me to stay active while working.
Week 1
In the first week, I integrated walking into my daily routine, noticing increased energy and productivity during meetings. While I faced a setback due to a migraine, I learned the importance of patience and self-compassion.
Week 2
During the second week, I experimented with wearing my Fitbit on my ankle to track steps accurately. I found that walking and working simultaneously had its challenges but also enhanced my focus during tasks like reading and writing.
Week 3
By the third week, walking had become a welcome part of my routine, helping me combat midday slumps and stay energized throughout the day. I experienced improved mobility and overall health from this simple adjustment.
Week 4
By the fourth week, walking had become a natural habit, boosting my flexibility, reducing tension, and enhancing mental clarity. Surprisingly, my productivity soared, making me realize the significant impact of incorporating movement into my workday.
